Information.
Here you'll find answers to the most common questions, pricing and our code of conduct.
Tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) are collaborative storytelling games where a group of people sit together at a table and tell a story. A game master describes the world, the scenes and the challenges – the players decide how their characters react. Dice bring the unpredictable into play. There is no script, no winning or losing – just a story that unfolds in the moment and that only this group will ever experience.
Pen & paper is more than a hobby to us. It brings friends closer together and connects people who have never met before. It trains empathy, creativity and spontaneous thinking. And it creates memories that last – because you wrote them yourselves. Whether you are sitting at the table for the first time or have been playing for years: for us, the shared experience comes first, not the rulebook.
All prices are total prices per session (not per person), including materials, dice and professional game mastering. VAT exempt under the Austrian small business regulation.

Before the Game
- I’ve never played pen & paper before. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of our bookings come from groups who have never sat at a table before. Our game master explains everything step by step – you don’t need to know any rules or prepare anything. - How do I prepare for a session?
You don’t – that’s the point. Just come curious and open-minded. Dice, character sheets, pens and all other materials are provided by us. All you need to bring is a good mood. - How does character creation work?
For one-shots you get pre-made characters to choose from so you can jump straight in. For campaigns there is a dedicated Session 0 where we create your characters together – it’s always included free of charge. - Do you offer anything for experienced players?
Absolutely. Our settings offer campaigns with political intrigue, sandbox elements and deep worldbuilding. We adapt the style and complexity to your group.
How It Works
- How long does a session last?
A one-shot typically takes 3–4 hours including the introduction. Campaign sessions are similar in length. The exact duration depends on the chosen adventure and is shown when you book. - How many players do you need?
Our sessions are designed for 3 to 6 players. Three is enough for an intimate round, six is the maximum for a full group. The game master is in addition to that. - Where do sessions take place?
We come to you – whether at your home, your office, a café or another venue of your choice in Vienna. All you need is a table and enough chairs. Online sessions are available on request. - Do you play in English?
Yes. All our settings and adventures are available in both German and English. Simply let us know your preferred language when booking. - What is the minimum age?
Our sessions are generally aimed at ages 16 and above. Some settings have higher age ratings (e.g. Vampire at 18+). For younger groups, feel free to contact us directly – we’ll find a suitable solution.
Booking & Payment
- How do I book a session?
Either directly via our booking page (choose a setting, game type and adventure, then pick a date) or through our contact form for a free initial consultation. - How does payment work?
Payment is made by bank transfer after booking confirmation. You will receive an invoice. Prices are total prices per session (not per person) and include all materials and game mastering. - What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations up to 72 hours before the session are free of charge. For later cancellations we reserve the right to charge the full amount. Of course, in genuine emergencies we always find a solution – just get in touch. - Someone in my group has special needs. Can you accommodate that?
Of course. Whether accessibility, sensory requirements or other needs – write to us before booking and we will adapt the experience accordingly.
Welcome to Roleplay Tales Vienna: Our Code for Shared Adventures
The true magic of roleplaying is born from shared imagination, creative freedom and deep, mutual trust. At our tables we tell epic, funny, emotional and sometimes dark stories. For this experience to be great for everyone involved, it requires an atmosphere where every single person feels safe, respected and welcome.
To guarantee exactly that, we have established this Code of Conduct. It is our shared social contract. These guidelines apply to all our spaces: our physical gaming tables in Vienna, our website, our Discord server and everywhere you are part of the Roleplay Tales Vienna community. Please read the following points carefully. By booking and participating in our games, you fully agree to these principles.
What we expect from you (Expected Behaviour)
Great roleplay begins with empathy. We expect all our players to actively live by the following values at the table:
- Look after yourself and others (Safety): Your mental and physical safety always comes first. Use the safety tools provided by our GMs (such as “Lines and Veils” or the “X-Card”) whenever something makes you uncomfortable, and unconditionally respect it when others use them.
- Speak for yourself: Bring your own ideas and feelings to the table, but always speak only for yourself and from your own perspective. Avoid making assumptions about how others feel or what they have experienced.
- Treat everyone with compassion and respect: We treat all people with absolute respect and genuine appreciation – regardless of identity, background, gender or level of roleplaying experience.
- Take responsibility (Accountability): If you say or do something that causes discomfort or hurt, we expect you to take responsibility, sincerely apologise and adjust your behaviour.
- Be brave, stand up for others: If you notice something hurtful happening at the table, don’t look away. Stand up for your fellow players or approach the game master.
- De-escalation before confrontation: In real conflicts, you can always discreetly approach the game master rather than letting a dispute escalate at the table.
- Respect pronouns and identity: Please consistently use the pronouns your fellow players share with you. Honest slip-ups happen – but deliberately refusing to acknowledge a correction or intentionally misgendering someone is absolutely unacceptable.
This has no place at our tables (Unacceptable Behaviour)
- Ignoring boundaries and safety tools: A “no” is not up for discussion at the table.
- Hate speech and toxic language: Hate speech, racist/sexist slurs, death threats, deadnaming or misgendering result in immediate exclusion.
- Harassment, abuse and assault: Any form of harassment or assault is prohibited – offensive comments, intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography, inappropriate physical contact or unwanted attention.
- Belittling inexperience: Criticising or mocking others because they don’t yet know the rules perfectly is forbidden. We help each other.
- Dismissive communication: Let others finish speaking. Constantly interrupting or dismissing creative contributions is not permitted.
- Problematic content without consent: Under no circumstances will there ever be depictions of sexual violence or any sexual acts involving minors.
- Withholding content warnings: Problematic themes must be declared through prior content warnings.
- Sexual harassment: Any solicitation of explicit sexual acts is strictly forbidden.
- Unprofessionalism and no-shows: Unannounced absence from a booked session shows a lack of respect.
- Obstructing resolution processes: Anyone who lies or obstructs the game master during investigation of reported incidents must expect permanent exclusion.
Consequences: Most violations result in a warning (strike). Under the three-strikes principle, accumulating three warnings leads to a permanent ban or a session cancellation without refund. For particularly serious violations, we reserve the right to impose immediate and permanent bans without prior warning.
Since we offer our games not only online but also as tangible events in beautiful Vienna, we – and therefore you – are bound by local Austrian law.
Youth protection and curfew in Vienna
The Vienna Youth Protection Act applies to all our evening or night-time events. If you are between 14 and under 18 years old, you may stay at public event venues until a maximum of 01:00 at night (permitted hours: 05:00–01:00). For events running longer, minors require the accompaniment of a legal guardian. We strictly adhere to the appropriate age ratings for game systems and adventures.
Clear rules on alcohol, smoking and substances
- Alcohol: Under 16, the purchase, possession and consumption of any alcohol is strictly prohibited.
- Tobacco and smoking: For all persons under 18, the purchase, possession and consumption of tobacco products is absolutely prohibited.
- Drugs and controlled substances: Possession and consumption of narcotics is prohibited by law in Austria. Zero tolerance at our tables.
ID requirement: Our event organisers reserve the right to verify your age on site. Please always carry a valid photo ID (passport, national ID card or driving licence).
Privacy and your right to your own image
In Austria, the Copyright Act (§ 78 UrhG) protects you from having images of you published against your will. Neither we nor your fellow players may upload photos or videos of you to social media without your explicit consent. Before we take out the camera at any event, we will always ask your permission. If you say “no”, that is completely fine. Should anyone distribute images of other participants without permission, this is not only a violation of our rules but may also lead to legal consequences.
